About the Department:
The Coroner's Office is mandated by law to investigate deaths independent and parallel to law enforcement. The office determines cause and manner of all sudden, unexplained and unnatural deaths, as well as natural deaths where medical attendance was not present.
The Coroner is the highest law enforcement official in the county and has the power and duties to enforce all Kentucky Laws.
About the Coroner:
Jeff Armstrong is a lifelong resident of Livingston County. He is a graduate of Livingston Central High School in Smithland, Kentucky, and completed a paramedic medicine degree from Paducah Community College. Jeff has been a paramedic for over 30 years, although retired but still maintains his paramedic licensure. Currently, Jeff is the acting General Manager of Smith Funeral Chapel in Smithland, Kentucky and is actively seeking the completion of his funeral director's licensure.
Throughout Jeff's life, he has been presented with several accomplished awards including; a Kentucky Colonel award, a Chief Award, a Lifetime Angel Award, and has been granted the Duke of Paducah award. Jeff has been a past member of the Site Based Decision Making Board for the Livingston County School System and remains an active member of the Smithland Chamber of Commerce.
Jeff has been the Coroner in Livingston County for a total of 12 years. He has made it his primary mission to dedicate his life to the helping professions. He is passionate and take great pride in serving the citizens of Livingston County.

The goal of the Coroner's Office is to provide the citizens of Livingston County with thorough, complete and professional investigations and services.
